Postdoc Ultrafast Condensed Matter

80% or more, flextime | Villigen, Switzerland

Salary is not negotiable (determined by salary system)

Your new role

Collaborating in an interdisciplinary environment, your team investigates the ultrafast dynamics of electronic, magnetic, and structural properties in Perovskite-related materials. To understand interactions in solids and how they determine dynamical and static properties, you rely on ultrafast techniques, mainly X-ray probes.

For X-ray scattering and spectroscopy experiments on ultrafast time scales, you have access to our free-electron laser SwissFEL and the soft X-ray FURKA beamline.

For project details, call Urs Staub Ph.D. at +41 56 310 44 94.

Please submit your application, index no. 6313-01, by 18 April 2021 and include a list of your publications and referees with their contact details.

This job is for you if

  • You're enthusiastic about supporting the PSI Microscopy and Magnetism team in their efforts to understand complex oxides' physics and ultrafast dynamics at the atomic level.

  • You feel comfortable discussing methods, sharing findings, and communicating effectively in English in a multinational community of research teams.

  • You have handled femtosecond lasers in past experiments.

  • You have a Ph.D. in physics and are looking for a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship.
