Postdoc Soft X-ray Ptychography

80% or more, flextime | Villigen (Switzerland)

Your new role

Together with your team in the Microspectroscopy Group, you collaborate on the soft X-ray ptychography project at the Swiss Light Source. Cooperating with both internal and external partners, you carry out research work using ptychography-based X-ray microscopy and spectroscopy at the nanoscale. You conduct experiments on systems such as magnetic nanostructures for spintronic applications and functional nanomaterials.

This job is for you if

  • You find the idea of supporting an energetic, interdisciplinary, and cross-national team with your PhD knowledge in experimental physics, electrical engineering, materials science, or a related area, motivating.

  • You enjoy developing and working hands-on on experimental setups and adapting existing Matlab, C, or Python code to explore and interpret large datasets

  • You have some initial experience using ptychography – or another lens-less imaging technique.

  • You are interested in magnetism, functional nanomaterials, or X-ray microscopy.
